Justice in Prisons: Health Access, Treatment and Prevention

Incarcerated persons are disproportionally affected by HIV worldwide. The networking zone will explore the impact of mass incarceration, prevention and harm reduction, access to treatment, justice and human rights. Join frontline providers to explore issues and strategies of care, discharge planning, peer education, nutritional and social needs, condom distribution, needle exchange, and engagement of authorities. Find brochures, videos, photos, seminars and speakers including prison health experts, former prisoners, prison authorities and community-based organizations. Participate in themed drop-in sessions and social media advocacy. Health Through Walls assists resource-poor countries in the Caribbean and Africa to implement sustainable models of healthcare delivery to prisoners. AIDS Foundation East-West (AFEW) works to reduce the impact of HIV amongst vulnerable populations including prisoners in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
