The MEPI and NEPI leadership will discuss the synergies, successes and challenges surrounding pre-service training of health care workers to increase the quantity, quality, research capacity and retention in host nations.
The goal of MEPI is to provide direct support to African institutions to transform medical education in Sub-Saharan Africa, strengthen and build clinical and research capacity and thereby strengthen human resources for health.
The NEPI, in collaboration with local Ministries of Health and Education, intends to strengthen the quality and capacity of nursing and midwifery education institutions, increase the number of highly skilled nurses and midwives, and improve their relevance.
The ultimate outcome is an increased quality and quantity of health care workers and faculty that are trained and retained in their home countries to practice and conduct research and better respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic and related co-morbidities. |
